Candidate deposits

An election deposit is the amount of money that a political party or independent candidate must pay when contesting an election, as prescribed by the electoral law.

The deposit is one of the requirements required for a complete candidate nomination and forms part of the electoral process for the 2026 Local Government Elections.

The deposit confirms the contestant’s intention to participate in the elections.
