Copper cable to the value of R80 000 found

On Wednesday, 20 February, members of the police in Carletonville received information about stolen copper cable that was being sold at a scrap metal dealership in town.

They rushed to the business in Paul Kruger Street and found the copper cable to the value of R80 000 at the site. Further investigation revealed that the brand new cable had been stolen from the Pluto Eskom sub-station at Redora between Carletonville and Randfontein.

Three men, all contractors who had been working for Eskom, were arrested in connection with the theft. The owner of the scrap metal dealership, a Congolese man, was arrested for being in possession of stolen goods.
