2023 Fezile Dabi Cross Country Champs heading to Bloemfontein

Parys Multisport and AFS Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running congratulate these athletes on their exceptional achievement and wish them all the best when they compete at the provincial champs.

On 29 July 2023 Parys Multisport presented the AFS Fezile Dabi Cross Country Running
championships at Koedoeslaagte Trail Park. The championship event was also the final stage of the
six-part series of the Fezile Dabi Open Cross Country Running League that started back in May this
year.
The athletes welcomed the slightly warmer temperatures we experienced at the time of the district
championship. However, the warmer weather made way for dryer conditions and strong winds. It
was clear from the start that athletes were faced with weather conditions that would make it merely
impossible to bank personal best times. Despite the windy conditions two athletes managed to set
new course records. Siphesihle Ngumbeni, running for Parys Multisport and coached by Pitso Tshele,
set a new 1km course record in the Boys U/8 category with a time of 03:52. Marinus Rademan,
running for Vaalpark Primary School, also set a new 3km course record in the Boys U/12 category
with a time of 10:50.
The 2023 Fezile Dabi Cross Country team was announced on 30 July 2023 and 56 athletes are
selected to represent the AFS Fezile Dabi district at the Free State Provincial Championships on
Saturday 19 August in Bloemfontein. Athletes who get selected for the provincial team will represent
the Free State province at the ASA National Championships in Gqeberha (PE) on Saturday 16
September 2023.
