Today, the Khaya Lam Land Reform Project will launch another of it’s “my house” Freehold Title Initiatives with the latest beneficiaries from the Free Market Froundation’s Khaya Lam reform project, who will receive their title deeds at the Forum building in Parys.
These title deeds are sponsored by Cashbuild and will be handed out to the 54 recipients by Ngwathe Mayor, Ms Joey Mochela. Many of the recipients are over 70 years.
Sponsored by FNB, the Free Market Foundation’s pilot project in the Free State’s Ngwathe Municipality, has seen over 600 deeds transferred to unrestricted fully tradable title. This simple act is transforming the lives of families, many of which have lived as tenants or with restricted ownership for generations. It gives access to previously locked dead capital and gives hundreds of very poor people their first step towards true economic freedom and economic prosperity.
Many farmers in the Free State have committed to sponsoring title deeds as a means to reduce historical conflict between famers and workers living as tenants on their land. The FMF is creating a blue print to be replicated throughout SA.
