The eNaTis system at the provincial traffic testing station in Parys has been back online since Tuesday morning and is able to process vehicle licence renewals and all other transactions required. This was confirmed by the office personnel and Mr T.C. Ubane, director: transport admin and licensing at the Department of Police Roads and Transport, at the time of going to printing. This comes as very good news to residents  who have had to make use of the Vredefort offices for some time after the Parys office requested members of the public to make use of the Sasolburg and Vredefort offices for all transactions while the system was offline. Ubane earlier told the Gazette that the   eNaTIS  system experienced challenges at  various  testing stations within the Free State Province, causing system down times.  Ubane said the National Department of Transport, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC), and Tasima, which is the current eNaTIS service provider, had    entered into numerous engagements to    resolve the outstanding issues with regard to the handing-over process. The Constitutional Court Judgment of 9 November 2016 ruled that the eNaTIS system must be handed over to the National Department of Transport and its agency RTMC. According to Ubane, Tasima has been uncooperative in the handing-over process and, as a result, hardware and software issues  have not been attended to. He said the department was trying to persuade Tasima to reach a consensus to resolve the prevailing impasse, which was hampering service delivery. The department apologised for any inconvenience that has been caused.
