The Abraham Kriel Children’s Home in Potchefstroom has proved to be a beacon of hope as the country enters week two of the national 21-day lockdown period amid the Coronavirus
pandemic which continues to take its toll globally.
It has been a testing time for everyone and with 230 children requiring care, measures have been put in place to ensure all the residents and their families are protected and looked after.
One such measure is the provision of ‘survival’ packs which were distributed to families in North West as well as neighbouring provinces on Friday 3 April.
This mammoth task required the efforts of several dedicated staff members who not only helped source the contents, but also assisted in packing the parcels and transporting them to
surrounding areas including Klerksdorp, Orkney and Hartebeesfontein.
Their dedication and hard work has made this vision a reality.
Families will no longer have to worry about essentials like fresh vegetables, grocery cupboard items like tinned food, maize meal, cleaning agents, bathroom necessitities as well as warm
clothes and blankets.
This amazing iniative will continue to run as long as funds – generated by Abraham Kriel’s flagship fundraising project – allow. The annual light festival known as ‘Liggiefees@Potch’
generates much-needed income and the children’s home remains thankful for being able to reach out and take care of their children and their families in unprecedented times like these.
