Flu claims life of council member

Our deepest condolences to the family 

A memorial service for Ngwathe’s councillor for Ward 7, Cllr Modise Moroenyane will be held on Thursday 13 June at 14:00 at the Lister Skosana Primary School. The funeral service is on Saturday 15 June from 08:00.

Cllr Moroenyane sadly passed away on 5 June. He was 47 years old.

According to Cllr Moroenyane’s brother, Tommy, Modise had flu symptoms. He was admitted to the Parys District Hospital on the Monday before his death. He died in hospital on the Wednesday after his admission to hospital.

Cllr Moroenyane will be remembered in loving memory by his wife, Disebo, his two sons and a daughter, his parents Daniël and Mokile, and his brother and sister.

He stayed in Mbeki-section, Tumahole, all his life and had his own business, Modise Explor & Multipurpose, before he became councillor of the Ngwathe Local Municipality three years ago.

His family described him as a man who was always helping others,and loved by all who crossed his path.

  • There will now have to be a municipal by election for Ward 7. The acting municipal manager for Ngwathe Local Municipality, Dr F.P Mathamaha confirmed that the municipality is in the process of declaring a vacancy.
