Bakwena to launch contactless payments on N1/N4 route

Contactless payments ensures that your card remains in your possession during payment.

From 1 June 2025, Bakwena will upgrade to contactless card payments on the N1/N4 route, enhancing security and reducing fraudulent toll transactions. This upgrade will enable real-time payments reducing the risk of stolen debit or credit cards being used by fraudsters at toll plazas.

In the meantime, Bakwena will continue to accept credit and fleet card magstripe payments as well as cash and Sanral tag payments methodss at Bakwena toll plazas.

No debit cards are accepted .
