New bakkies for Ngwathe to improve service delivery

The Mayor said the service delivery bakkies will help to improve service delivery.

Five new service delivery bakkies were handed to the Ngwathe Local Municipality today.

Ngwathe’s Executive Mayor, Cllr Victoria de Beer-Mthombeni, said this marks another milestone in the municipality’s efforts to improve service delivery in the best interest of residents.

Apart from the new service delivery bakkies, the municipality recently bought a honeysucker truck, a TLB, cherrypicker and refuse removal trucks.

The Mayor stated that acquiring municipal fleet is part of Ngwathe’s cost containment measures aimed at promoting efficient use of municipal resources, and ensuring that funds are directed towards long-term sustainability, while allowing the municipality to meet current service delivery obligations.

She added that the vehicles will be used in the various towns of Ngwathe enabling municipal workers to respond rapidly and on time to service delivery issues.

The Mayor also thanked residents and businesses who continue to pay for municipal services, enabling the municipality to achieve its objectives.
