42-Year old die in deadly R59 crash

A case of culpable homicide is investigated by Sasolburg SAPS, following a fatal motor vehicle accident on the R59 between the N1 and Sasolburg earlier today, claiming the life of a 42-year-old driver and left another person hospitalised.

The accident happened at approximately 07:35, involving a diesel tanker and a silver Toyota Yaris. Police responding to the call, found the diesel tanker on fire.

According to police spokesperson Sergeant Josephine Rani, preliminary investigations indicate that the driver of the Yaris was traveling from Sasolburg towards Parys, while the truck was traveling in the opposite direction, from Parys towards Sasolburg. It is alleged that the driver of the Toyota Yaris lost control of the vehicle, and the two vehicles collided head-on.

The driver of the Yaris was certified dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Services personnel. The truck driver sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
