A few minutes can help build better tourism in the Dome
Findings of this research will provide in-depth knowledge of why tourists visit the Vredefort Dome and what new ecotourism trends they seek.
If you have visited the Vredefort Dome before or stays in the Dome area, take a minute to complete a tourism survey, which will help to enhance and ensure sustainable tourism in the Vredefort Dome area.
The survey is done by the North-West University with the support of the Vredefort Dome Conservancy and aims to explore the Travel motives and implementation of nature-based tourism trends at the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site.
Findings of this research will provide in-depth knowledge of why tourists visit the Vredefort Dome and what new ecotourism trends they seek to enhance the site’s competitive advantage.
Participation is strictly voluntary, and all participants must be over 18 years of age.

The research findings contribute to the Honours mini-dissertations of two postgraduate students, which will be presented at the end of their academic year. You can assist by sharing the survey with your guests and visitors by:
- Displaying the survey poster in a visible area at your establishment
- Encouraging visitors to scan the QR code in the article image and complete the short questionnaire.
- Sharing the poster image and survey link via WhatsApp, email, social media, or booking confirmations.
Every response helps to better understand visitor experiences and identify opportunities to strengthen tourism in the Vredefort Dome.
To complete the survey, scan the QR code with your cellphone’s camera function, or follow the link in the image. For additional information, contact the principal supervisor, Prof Peet van der Merwe, at peet.vandermerwe@nwu.ac.za.
