A total of 22 participants enjoyed a wonderful early-morning walk, identifying 76 bird species.
On Saturday, 31 October, members of bird clubs from Parys (Feathers), the Vaal Triangle (Vaal Bird Club) and Potchefstroom (Wesvaal Club), as well as a representative from BirdLife SA, joined forces to conduct a bird species count in the Parys Wetland Park area.
A total of 22 participants enjoyed a wonderful early-morning walk, identifying 76 bird species. Visitors were highly impressed by the rehabilitation work carried out in the wetland and expect birdlife to flourish.
Afterwards, everyone gathered for a picnic under the lovely shady trees in an area dubbed The Arena by the dedicated members of the Parys Wetland Park Committee.

BirdLife SA donated a poster depicting some of the most common garden birds in the area. The poster will be handed over to the committee for display so that members of the public can also enjoy learning about the wonders of our birdlife.
The Feathers Club wishes to express its gratitude to Viva Garage for making its parking area and toilet facilities available.
A big shout-out also goes to the team responsible for the wonderful improvements in the Parys Wetland Park.
