Dinosaur treats that your child will love
These dinosaur-themed treats are perfect for any dino-lover’s special day or just a fun activity to spend doing with your child.
Whether you’re planning a dinosaur-themed birthday party or your child is simply fascinated by these creatures, he or she will enjoy helping you make these adorable dinosaur treats.
Dino hatch eggs

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ cup milk
- ¼ cup chunky peanut butter
- 1½ cups instant oatmeal
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Method
- Grease ¼ cup plastic egg moulds (available from co.za). Bring the sugar, butter and milk to a boil in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Cook for 5 minutes, while stirring. Add peanut butter and stir until dissolved.
- Remove from the heat and quickly stir in the remaining ingredients, until slightly cooled.
- Spoon into the halves of the egg moulds. Top half with a small plastic dinosaur and close with the remaining halves of the moulds. Cool in the fridge for at least 2 hours before unmoulding.
Gluten-free dinosaur print cookies

Ingredients
- ¼ cup butter, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup castor sugar or xylitol
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- Pinch bicarbonate of soda
- ½ tbsp hot water
- 1 cup + 2 tbsp gluten-free flour
- Pinch salt
For the icing
- 2 tbsp milk + extra
- ¾ cup icing sugar/xylitol icing
- Food colouring of your choice
Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C. Line baking trays with baking paper. Beat together the butter, sugar/xylitol and vanilla until creamy.
- Stir together the bicarb and water. Beat into the butter mixture. Sift over the flour and salt and mix until smooth.
- Roll the dough into half tablespoon balls and press out to flatten and place apart on prepared trays.
- Make indents into the cookies with dinosaur feet. Bake for about 10 minutes until cooked. Cool on trays.
- For the icing combine icing with milk. Divide into bowls depending on the number of colours you want to use and colour each with food colouring. Pipe or spoon into the feet. Set aside for 1 hour to harden.
