T20 season ends with NWU taking the title

The North West Club Cricket Premier League T20 competition ended on Sunday, 18 February, as the NWU 1 were crowned champions after achieving 51 points from their 14 matches of the season

Ibbies took the second spot on the table, finishing with 39 points. Third place went to Travelling Reefs, which finished on 34 points. The last round of fixtures saw Potch Dorp and NWU 1 pick up two victories. NWU 1 beat Impala by 9 wickets and cruised past Ikageng by 71 runs.

Potch Dorp got the better of Taurus by 54 runs and defeated Impala by 8 wickets. Divan Minnie 48 (26 balls) and Van Zyl Smit (35 off 14 balls) starred for Dorp against Taurus with the bat. Quick scoring enabled Dorp to post 204/7 from their 20 overs.

Taurus only managed 150/4 despite a superb 89 from Mohammed Taqvi. Reinke 9T20 beat Ikageng by 7 wickets at Potch Boys’ High, thanks to a solid 43 (29) from Dwaine Fielding and a 51* (41) from his brother Mike.

Ikageng earlier made 142/9 with the bat after Phemelo Seipati went on the rampage, hitting 63 (29). The HTS Potch old boy hit 6 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. Zennen Naude was the top bowler for Reinke 9T20 with figures of 3/31. Mike Fielding also spun a web with his left-arm spin, taking 3/25.
