Micky “The Mouse” Cloete shows grit with big EFC victory

This MMA-fighter now has his sights on flyweight gold in the EFC.

Potchefstroom based MMA-fighter, Micky Cloete, made it four out of four in the flyweight division in the Extreme Fighting Championship when he beat Lukhmaan Jhazbhay at EFC 111 on Thursday, 8 March.

Cloete, known by his nickname “The Mouse”, won by submission via a rear naked choke in the second round after an intense ground and pound spurt had set up Jhazbhay for the finish.

The match also won the “Fight of the Night” at EFC 111.

It was a tremendously physical match with both fighters getting cut and losing blood. Cloete did not have the best first round, but regrouped to get the win with a much-improved performance in the second round.

“I just had to get my head right and to refocus. I want to be the best flyweight in South Africa. That is my motivation,” stated Cloete.

Cloete has high ambitions and will now put all his focus on going for the EFC flyweight title. The current flyweight title holder is Nkazimulo “King Shaka” Zulu from Durban.

“The next goal is the title,” added a determined Cloete.
