The Chairperson of Greater Stilfontein Taxi Association, in Klerksdorp was fatally shot by an unknown gun man.

The incident occurred on 3 August at about 20:00, the gun man allegedly gained entrance through the kitchen door and shot Jeffrey Mbambane (55) once on the head.while he was watching television at home.

According to the information, other family members heard a loud bang inside the house. They found Mbambane lying in a pool of blood in the living room. The police and the paramedics were arrived on the scene, but Mbambane was certified dead.

No other family members was wounded during the incident.  The motive of the tragedy is unknown at this stage. No arrests have been made and a murder case has been opened. The police in Khuma are calling on members of the community who may have the information to contact Captain Alex Lebudi of Klerksdorp Cluster Detectives on 082 338 1076.

The North West Acting Provincial Commissioner; Major General Jacob Tsumane has condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms.

“This kind of incident cannot be tolerated and we will do everything to get to the bottom of the matter including apprehension of the suspect. We urge the community to remain calm, refrain from taking the law into their own hands and to allow police investigation to take place,” said Major General Jacob Tsumane.
