Scouts give a better Christmas to those in need

On Thursday 3 December the School of Tactical Intelligence put smiles on a lot of hopeless faces with their annual Community Day Project.
This day was implemented two years ago when TSAS (Thales South Africa Systems), SA Army Intelligence Formation and the School of Tactical Intelligence each identified an institution in need of help.
The School of Tactical Intelligence chose Thuso ya Batho feeding project in Promosa as their project.
Thuso ya Batho was established in 2011 by Angela Freeks, better known as Mama Angela. With this initiative, she feeds an average of 200 hungry men, women and children with a delicious breakfast, lunch and supper. Many children rely on Mama Angela, their only food source for the day, and would go to school with empty stomachs if it wasn’t for her selfless generosity.
Thuso ya Batho receives no government funding and Mama Angela has to feed all these people with only a small pension grant. She, therefore, relies on donations, sponsors and the generosity of the community.
According to Mama Angela, she has seen many children and women who are victims of abuse at the hand of those they love, and the least she can offer them is a warm plate of food.
Together, the SA Army Intelligence Formation, TSAS and the School of Tactical Intelligence played their own significant part in making Christmas a little merrier to a lot of these children.
They not only donated food and clothing to the Thuso ya Batho feeding project but also handed toys to children who might not have seen a Christmas present otherwise.
These heroes in uniform would also like to encourage the greater community to open their hearts to Mama Angela by giving not only donations but also time to make a difference in someone’s life.
