People are dying just because of the hyenas, Congress of the People said today in a statement after five people lost their lives in the Tshwane violent protest.
Cope spokesperson Dennis Bloem believes that the ANC must take full responsibility for the lives lost in Tshwane, destruction of property and disruption of the economy of Tshwane.
Cope urges ANC to stop gambling with people’s lives.
“It is very clear that some members of the ruling party did not approve Thoko Didiza as their mayoral candidate for Tshwane, but the leaders are forcing the members and supporters to accept this candidate against their will,” said Bloem.
Bloem says the internal infighting must not affect the entire population; it must be sorted out at Luthuli House.
“The ANC, its alliances and the state security minister is claiming that they know who is behind the violence, so why are they not arresting them?” he asked.
He went on to say that the ruling party leaders must dip their heads in shame for the hardship they cause to innocent residents of Tshwane. People are suffering because of their self-centered, stubborn dictatorship.
According to Bloem, Cope is more than ever convinced that this new leadership of the ANC has abandoned the Freedom Charter that says “THE PEOPLE SHALL GOVERN”.
“We are calling upon the people of Tshwane to restrain from violence. Let us ensure that no one will lose a life again because of this ANC internal faction infighting,” he pleaded.
