A 32-year-old Ikageng woman alleges that her boyfriend assaulted her; sprayed pepper spray on her and raped her four times after smoking dagga mixed with a pill on Saturday. She claims that he took her to his shack after verbally assaulting her in his intoxicated state. ‘Upon arrival at his shack at 21:00 he violently raped her and violated her another three times between that night and the following day,’ says Const. Kealobogile Trom, spokesperson for the Ikageng police.

In another incident at about 16:15 on the same day, a 15-year-old girl in Greenfield was allegedly raped while sleeping at a male friend’s house. According to her, he took off her underwear and raped her. When she told him she was going to tell her mother, he threatened to stab her.

At about 22:00 that night, a 23-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 28-year-old man in Baipei, Promosa. The suspect has since been arrested.

The victim claims she and her friends were having a few beers at a tavern. ‘When she went outside for a smoke, someone grabbed her from behind and dragged her to a nearby house and raped her. The owner of the house assisted the crying woman,’ Trom reported. She says the police are also investigating a case of statutory rape after a 15-year-old girl in Promosa was impregnated by her 19-year-old boyfriend.

The police were called to Thutuzela Centre at 16:00 on Sunday and were told that she had been referred by the hospital.

‘Her boyfriend has promised to take care of the baby when it is born. The victim resides with the boyfriend,’ says Trom.
