Potchefstroomers of all ages and backgrounds donned their purple speedos and purple body paint for the 5 km run, celebrating brotherhood and togetherness. The response from participants was positive, with Gordon Peddie organising the local event, hosted at Pad.langs Koffiestop.
The run raises awareness and funds for testicular cancer, while encouraging men to take proactive steps towards their health and well-being.
The main event took place at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg, where 3 000 men participated. In North West, two runs took place in Rustenburg, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, alongside events in Mahikeng, Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp.

This year’s event carried the tagline “Lekker Balls. Lekker Life”, highlighting the importance of early detection. Over the past 17 years, the Hollard Daredevil Run has raised millions of rand for the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) and the Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF), supporting education, screening programmes and services for men across the country.
“At Hollard, we want to help men and their families navigate uncertainty with greater confidence by challenging stereotypes and encouraging screening and early detection. This year’s tagline, ‘Lekker Balls, Lekker Life’, celebrates the idea that taking care of your health today means being more aware, prioritising regular screenings and getting checked early. Thank you to each and every participant and supporter for the difference they have made today,” said Adél Kriel, Hollard South Africa’s head of experiential marketing.
