On Sunday 7 May The North West Bikers Association held an awareness initiative for farm murders where they handed out packages with a message on the importance of farmers in South Africa.

A hum, transformed into a self-defined thunder, rallied in the ears of passers-by. The bikers were all standing tall in gleaming jackets, with meaning in their noise. One is always closer by not keeping still.

‘We need to make our country aware that if it weren’t for our farmers, we would not have food.’ said Victor Dos Reis, coordinator of the initiative.

North West isn’t the only province leaving tyre marks; biker associations all across South Africa have made their noise, too. According to Victor, it is important to ‘inform the public about what is going on in our country regarding the farm murders. This is not a political drive, the intention is to get out in the public that these farm murders need to stop.’

Victor was expecting between 50 and 60 bikers so that they could inform locals fuelling up, petrol jockeys, shoppers in the mall and even passing traffic at robots.
