Roads to be closed during military parade

Members of the community should take note that certain roads and streets will be closed on 14 September during the rehearsals and preparations for the Freedom of the City Parade and, again, on 16 September, the actual day of the big event.

Members of the community should take note that certain roads and streets will be closed on 14 September during the rehearsals and preparations for the Freedom of the City Parade and, again, on 16 September, the actual day of the big event.
The routes that will be affected from around 17:30 on Thursday, 14 September are:
•Wolmarans Street/Sol Plaatjie Avenue
•Sol Plaatjie Avenue / Nelson Mandela Drive
•Sol Plaatjie Avenue / James Moroka Street
•James Moroka Street/Govan Mbeki Drive
•Govan Mbeki Drive/Retief Street.
The routes that will be affected from around 07:30 – 15:30 on Saturday, 16 September are:
•Ventersdorp Road
•Albert Luthuli Drive
•Govan Mbeki Drive
•Nelson Mandela Drive
•Sol Plaatjie Avenue
•Wolmarans Street
•Wolmarans Street/Sol Plaatjie Avenue
•Sol Plaatjie Avenue / Nelson Mandela Drive
•Sol Plaatjie Avenue / James Moroka Street
•James Moroka Street/Govan Mbeki Avenue
•Govan Mbeki Avenue/Retief Street.
