Aganang Fm will be hosting their 6th annual campaign to raise funds and collect food donations on Saturday 16 December. The campaign will be in a form of a music festival under the name ‘Aganang Fm Family Gathering’ which is one of the events hosted by Aganang FM for the purpose of contributing to poverty alleviation in our communities.

According to the marketing manager, Tebogo Leping, in 2012, Aganang community radio started a food collection project.
‘The objective of the project was to collect food donations and to donate them to needy families in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda district during the festive season. The project is a call to all throughout the district to support and respond to the levels of poverty in their communities. The project was implemented in a form of a music festival whereby attendants brought food donations to the event,’ he said. He added that in 2013, The office of the executive mayor in the Dr. Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality adopted the project and entered into a partnership with Aganang Community Radio Station. ‘The partnership has been running successfully for the past 5 years and the project has been growing each year. Last year, the event was a success with a turnout of over 5000 people and the project managed to collect enough food to donate to over 200 families in the district,’ he commented.
In 2016, Aganang assisted 200 families in the district.
Leping called on the community to support the event because this Year Aganang Fm together with Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality are looking forward to increase the number of beneficiaries with the support of the community.
‘We want to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate,’ he said.
Leping says the event will be held this Saturday at the Ikageng Stadium, starting at 10:00 and running until 02:00 the next day.
