Hawks uncover drugs worth R200 000

The Organised Crime Unit of the Hawks in North West assisted by Klerksdorp K9 uncovered drugs worth approximately R200 000 on Monday.

The Organised Crime Unit of the Hawks in North West assisted by Klerksdorp K9 uncovered drugs worth approximately R200 000 in Pienaarsdorp where a 21-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested for dealing in drugs on 23 March.
The suspects appeared at the Klerksdorp Magistrate Court on Monday.

According to the Hawks spokesperson, Capt. Hlangelani Rikhotso the flats on no. 7 Viljoen street were raided by the Hawks following reported allegations of continued drug dealing in and around the property.
‘During the search, different drugs were found in different rooms within the property while others were hidden outside the property. By the end of the raid, the drug assortment seized consisted of cocaine, crystal meth, methcathinone (CAT), dagga, nyaope and ecstasy. Also found with the drugs were syringes, blood collection tubes and over 2000 ARV tablets,’ reported Rikhotso.
The Provincial Head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigations – Maj-Genl Linda Mbana said the Hawks will continue to fight the scourge of drugs in Klerksdorp and throughout the province. ‘We also urge anyone with information about drugs to report the matter to us, assuring you of the strictest confidentiality,’ she said.
