
In an ordinary council meeting held on Tuesday, the JB Marks executive mayor, Kgotso Khumalo has admitted to the council that the municipality’s financial situation is very bad.
‘It’s not a rumour, it’s a fact, and things are really bad. We spend a lot more than we get in,’ said Khumalo.
Hans-Jurie Moolman, the DA caucus chairperson says the opposition was ignored when they warned the council about the looming financial crisis. He has described the current financial situation as ‘the chickens coming home to roost’.
‘We knew that this was the ultimate result of an amalgamation that we never wanted and forced on us. The national and provincial government are silent and are turning a blind eye for their induced abortion,’ said Moolman.
