Dark cloud hangs over JB Marks after death of two employees

A heavy dark cloud hung over the JB Marks Municipality this morning following the death of Councillor Moeder Sarah Mokae, an MMC for the Department of Sports, Arts and Culture and Mr Kinsley Mothobi, an employee at the Infrastructure Department.

The JB Marks Council spokesperson, Willie Maphosa says ‘the pair died yesterday afternoon in a car accident on the R53 road when they were on route home to Potch after attending a Council meeting in Ventersdorp. The car in which they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a 4 X 4 bakkie and they both caught fire. They were both burned beyond recognition. The couple in the bakkie was also burned beyond recognition. All the adults in both cars died except a child died later on at the hospital.’

Moeder Mokae was involved in a fatal car accident.

Funeral arrangements of both Mokae and Mothobi will be announced at a later stage.

The Executive Mayor, speaker and single whip of Council have expressed heartfelt condolences to all families of the victims of this horrific accident.
