According to Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, the police received a call at about 07:30 that day and, upon their arrival, the paramedics accompanied them to the scene.

‘They found a woman who had been bleeding from the nose and mouth in the shack. The woman dead at the scene,’ said Trom.

At the same scene, Trom says the deceased’s boyfriend had allegedly attempted to commit suicide and was admitted to hospital.

In the seven months of this year, there have already been eight murders in Ikageng and the extensions that have been reported in the Herald.

On 9 July, six days before this recent murder , the Ikageng detectives arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man, Petrus Mathulela in Ext. 11.

In June, an 18-year-old girl stabbed a 28-year-old man, Tshepo Thapo to death in Ext. 11, following an argument earlier that night. At the end of the same month, a 36-year-old woman in Sonderwater was arrested in connection with her 42-year-old boyfriend’s murder in the early hours of Saturday morning.

On 30 April, two murders were reported. A 67-year-old man was accused of stabbing a 41-year-old man to death in Ext. 9. In addition, a 27-year-old woman was also accused of stabbing to death a 39-year-old man in Baipei Ext. 11.

In March, a domestic dispute between lovers in Ikageng in the early hours of Saturday morning left the 36-year-old boyfriend dead. The 33-year-old woman later handed herself over to the police.

Also in March, a 34-year-old man stabbed his 27-year-old nephew to death in Ext. 11.
On 19 February, the body of an unknown man was found with stab wounds on the corner of Kwena and Phuduhutswana streets in Ikageng.
