A 14-year-old girl plucked up the courage and reported the incident after she was drugged and allegedly raped in Promosa, last Wednesday.
She says this had already happened to her four times in the past.
Sgt Kelebogile Trom, the police spokesperson, says the girl was walking home last Wednesday when she encountered a man she knows.
‘He grabbed her by the hand and forced her to his place. She begged him to let her go but he closed the door behind them when they got there. Once in the bedroom, he took the neck of a bottle and some foil from his trousers’ pocket. He ordered her to crush a pill, which he poured into the ‘bong’ and forced her to smoke it. After inhaling, she felt dizzy. The man then got undressed, took her clothes off and proceeded to rape her.
‘He said he was not afraid of her family or the police and that he would kill her if she told anyone.
‘The victim fell asleep and, when she woke up the next day, the suspect ordered her to take a bath. After that, she sat on the bed until 13:00, when she got up and went home.’ Trom says no one has been arrested at this stage.
