Father and son allegedly attack friend

A father and son allegedly attacked a man in Promosa.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a father and son allegedly brutally attacked a man in Promosa.

On the morning of 28 July, Garian Emmanuel Brits (24) was walking home. He was between Henry and Harwood streets in Promosa, when he noticed a car pull up and park in a yard opposite him. Moments later, Brits was suddenly hit from behind with a sharp object (which is still unknown) and fell to the ground. One of the suspects, the father, then picked Brits up and said, “Finish him off, my son”. The son, who is also a suspect, subsequently stabbed him several times. According to his fiancé, Beodine Davids (26), Brits kept on screaming but that did not stop the suspect.

When the suspect eventually stopped, Brits fell to the ground, covered in blood. The suspects kicked him in the head and ribs before they drove off.

With great difficulty and in extreme pain, Brits struggled home and as he approached, he screamed for help before he fell to the ground. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he is still in a critical yet stable condition.

According to Davids, the exact motive of the attack is unknown.

Sergeant Kelebogile Trom, the Ikageng Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said Brits sustained wounds to both hands, upper arm, upper abdomen, and left thigh. With the tests done, the investigations are underway.
