Witrand Hospital warns public about vacancy scams

Koketso Diloane, Witrand spokesperson, says recently employment scams for their General Support services have emerged, and is increasing at an alarming rate.

Koketso Diloane, Witrand spokesperson, says recently employment scams for their General Support services have emerged, and is increasing at an alarming rate.

“There is a group of individuals pretending to be employed by the hospital circulating messages via Social Media in an effort to lure unsuspecting job seekers for alleged positions at Witrand Hospital,” he said.

The positions include cleaners, groundsmen and drivers.

The alleged fraudsters request for a forward payment as an administration fee before the employment seekers are sent forms for an employment opportunity at the hospital.

Witrand hospital appeals to the public to not be involved in scams as Government employment is not sold to people. Also, there aren’t any positions currently advertised by the hospital.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer, Moipone Elizabeth Mpolokeng says they follow a particular recruitment procedure. “Witrand hospital follows Government recruitment and selection process, wherein vacant positions are advertised on the local newspapers and the hospital’s communication platforms, those that are interested will then apply for the positions and from then there will be profiled, shortlisted and interviewed.  At no point will communities pay for employment on different positions within the Hospital,”

She pleads with public to report such fraudulent acts to their nearest Police station.
