Two police officers, Sergeant Thys Gareitse and Sergeant Daniel Sethibe were involved in a head-on collision with a truck on the R540, between Leeudoringstad and Wolmaransstad, on Wednesday, 15 July.
According to Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson,the officials were on duty. The two officials were stationed at the Potchefstroom Public Order Policing (POP).
The two police officials and civilian, unfortunately, lost their lives. The truck driver was not injured.
“The investigation into the matter is ongoing. The Provincial Commissioner of the North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena conveyed his message of condolences to all the families,” said Brigadier Mokgwabone.
The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
