Executive Mayor Hospitalised

Cllr Kgotso Khumalo, executive mayor of the J.B. Marks municipality,  has tested positive for COVID-19.

Cllr Kgotso Khumalo, executive mayor of the J.B. Marks municipality,  has tested positive for COVID-19.

He has since remained in isolation. According to a statement released by the Office of the Executive Mayor, he took the test after experiencing persisting COVID-19 related symptoms. The symptoms proliferated during the course of the day (Tuesday), which led him to consult with his medical team, where a decision was reached to hospitalize him on the evening of Tuesday 21st July 2020. The mayor has been receiving medical attention at a private facility. His condition is stable and satisfactory.

To ensure that his mayoral roles are executed in his absence, MMC for Sports, Art, and Culture- Lesego Molapisi has been appointed to serve as the acting Executive Mayor until 15th August 2020
