Mayor resigns, or has he?

The executive mayor of J.B. Marks municipality, Kgotso Khumalo seems to have resigned as mayor of the municipality.

The executive mayor of J.B. Marks municipality, Kgotso Khumalo seems to have resigned as mayor of the municipality.

Mayoral spokesperson, Mandla Tawana, confirmed the mayor’s resignation.

“It is in line with the ANC’s national executive committee’s decision for all party members who have been charged with corruption related charges to step aside.

“I think he resigned on the 2nd of May,” Tawana said.

Sources within the municipality have noted that the resignation letter was sent but Khumalo’s signature was not on the letter.

“It is a technical issue right now,” the source said.

Khumalo, Cyril Henry and Mohau Shuping were arrested and charged with theft and fraud in October last year.
