Two people have died and another was slightly injured after a taxi was involved in an accident on the N12.
On Friday, 3 September around 15:00, a taxi was involved in an accident on the N12 in the direction of Klerksdorp approximately 10 km from Potchefstroom.
According to Willem Steenberg, he had been travelling from Potch to Stilfontein when his bakkie broke down. He parked on the side of the road.
“All I recall was a taxi hitting us from the front, I was covered in blood and soon became unconscious,“ he said.
Steenberg, who is still admitted at the Potchefstroom Hospital is currently unable to walk.
“Things have been very bad, since being admitted I have been in severe pain, my left leg is broken and my rib cage is damaged,” he explained.
According to the department of transport, roads and community safety spokesperson Boitshoko Moremi, the taxi was travelling from Klerksdorp to Potchefstroom when it collided with the bakkie.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations. The identities of the deceased are not known yet.
