Yesterday, (Thursday, 6 January) at approximately 16:20 the road on the N12 through Potchefstroom was blocked at the Nelson Mandela Drive & Beyers Naude Avenue crossing.
According to one of the motorists, the traffic jam was caused by taxi drivers on strike.
“This is unacceptable, why are taxi drivers so stubborn,” he said in frustration.
Motorists were asked to make use of alternative routes and expect delays before the road was later cleared around 17:40.
The Herald sent an enquiry to the J.B. Marks Municipality regarding the reasons behind closure but has not yet received feedback.
