8-year-old girl dies in fatal accident

An 8-year-old girl sustained fatal injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the Schoemansdrift Road, approximately 2 km outside of Potchefstroom, yesterday afternoon (24 February).

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene shortly before 15h30  they found a bakkie lying on its side in the field and the little girl lying next to it. Unfortunately, she was showing no signs of life and was declared dead at the scene by paramedics. The driver of the bakkie sustained no injuries but was treated for shock at the scene. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident is not known to our paramedics, but police were on the scene for further investigations.
