There was joy in abundance when Cricket Association Force South Africa (SA) handed over soft toys to admitted specialised patients for Easter on Thursday.
Patricia Mtshali (MMC for Arts, Sports and Culture) and Mr Johan Horn, who represented the Cricket Association; Force South Africa (SA) handed over the donated toys. “This is in recognition of our long-standing relationship with Witrand Hospital management. Our sincere thanks to Witrand for the wonderful, compassionate work they are doing,” Horn said.
During the handover, Mrs Moi- pone Mpolokeng, Witrand Hospital CEO expressed her gratitude for the gesture. “On behalf of the hospital management and
our patients, I would like to thank the Cricket Association; Force South Africa (SA), who contributed from their pocket to donate toys for our specialised patients. The soft toys will indeed add value as part of therapy,” she said. “We also appreciate J.B. Marks MMC for Arts, Sports and Culture, Ms Paricia Mtshali, for making time to visit the hospital and ensuring that our patients are remembered in a special way this Easter.”
Witrand Hospital is home to many specialised patients. According to the CEO, some patients are admitted from as young as six years old. “Some are now about 76 years old and have become a part of our bigger family,” she added.
Mtshali said it was very thoughtful of the Cricket Association to show the patients love during Easter. “I am grateful to be experiencing such a beautiful act of love, which is exactly what these gifts represent,” she said.
“The involvement of J.B. Marks municipality’s MMC for Arts, Sports and Culture during this time is quite memorable. This gesture should remind us that we can easily communicate and engage the government in all spheres. We must, therefore, form a strong alliance with the municipality,” she concluded.
