Water deemed safe for residents to drink

The JB Marks Local Municipality has finally received water test results showing no signs of contamination.

Following allegations that were circulating on social media since Thursday, 19 May 2022 concerning water in the  Eersterantjie Reservoir being contaminated and unsafe to consume.  The JB Marks Local Municipality has finally received water test results showing no signs of contamination.

As a result of these allegations, the JB Marks Local Municipality decided to immediately and temporarily isolate the Eersterantjie Reservoir before running tests at three (3) different laboratories, including Midvaal Water Company, Envirocare, and their own. Arrangements were made to supply water tankers as well as other means of providing water to the public at various points while the Municipality was waiting for the test results.

The water testing was conducted by two external laboratories and one internal laboratory. Results were double-checked so that the results released at the end of the day would be reliable considering the health and safety of the people living in and around the JB Marks Local Municipality.

The municipality says those who would like to have access to the technical test results from the Laboratories will be assisted on request.
