Resident frustrated with potholes in Baillie Park

Potholes are generally a problem in this country and although George Peters from Baillie park knows this, he can’t help but express his frustration about the number of potholes in his neighbourhood.

Potholes are generally a problem in this country and although George Peters from Baillie park knows this, he can’t help but express his frustration about the number of potholes in his neighbourhood.
“I have lived here for almost six years and the state of our roads is disgusting, to say the least,” Peters expressed.
“I can’t tell you how many times I have had to use a longer route to avoid the potholes; don’t even get me started on when it rains,” he added.
At the moment, Peters is using his spare wheel after his car took a hard knock on his way home. “ My car has all sorts of scratches and dents due to these roads and now I have a wheel to worry about,” he said.
According to Peters, the very same wheel has been patched over five times and he was recently forced to use his spare wheel because the tyre was no longer inflating.
“We are already struggling to make ends meet so there is no way we can fit things like pothole damage into the budget,” he lamented. “I can’t even tell you just how much I dislike driving around with a spare wheel but I have no choice.”
Peters says he knows it isn’t possible for the municipality to cover all the potholes in Potch but he can’t help but express his disappointment.
“The problem is that they use cheap materials to do quick patchwork. It all gets us nowhere at the end of the day,” he said. “What are they doing with our taxes? This is plainly unacceptable.”
The Herald asked the municipality for comment but none was forthcoming in time for print.
