Giving back for the development of the youth

The aim of the event was to give back to Lifting Dreams Potchefstroom, a registered non-profit company that specialises in community upliftment through educational support in under-resourced schools and communities by providing extra classes in English and Mathematics for school learners.

Fun was had at the RAiN Chartered Accountants Run, Ride and Riddle Adventure Race that took place on Saturday 14 May 2022, at Hartspad just outside of Potchefstroom. The aim of the event was to give back to Lifting Dreams Potchefstroom, a registered non-profit company that specialises in community upliftment through educational support in under-resourced schools and communities by providing extra classes in English and Mathematics for school learners.

R7000 was donated to Lifting Dreams and will be used for the development of teaching material.
Ian Pierce, Director of RAiN Chartered Accountants said the work done by Lifting Dreams is extremely important. “If we don’t change the way we educate the youth, nothing else will change. We need to be part of the solution and create a culture of volunteering and giving,” he said.

Zelda Standing, EXCO at RAiN Chartered Accountant added that people, relationships and solutions remain a priority in all that they do. “We invest a lot of time and energy in creating a healthy environment where people can thrive,” she said.
“The Potchefstroom branch of Lifting Dreams was launched in Potchefstroom in February. We are so thankful for the donation from RAiN as we need all the resources we can get,” says Dr Karen Puren from Urban and Regional Planning at the North-West University and coordinator of Lifting Dreams, Potchefstroom.

Lifting Dreams is run on a system of volunteers who are provided with supplementary teaching and learning material to enrich the learning process of school learners in our community.
The Head of Marketing for RAiN Chartered Accountants, Cindy Purén, said that the RAiN Run, Ride & Riddle has proved successful and it will be added to the annual calendar of the company and Potchefstroom.
