In order to ensure that residents of the municipality have a reliable supply of clean piped water, the DA has requested a detailed report on the causes of the water supply disruptions that have plagued them for the past few weeks. Sandile Tyatya, Acting Municipal Manager and Gaba Ka Qhele, Executive Mayor, have been requested to intervene immediately.
In some residential areas like Vyfhoek, Tuscany Ridge, VanderHoff Park, Baillie Park, and vast areas in Ikageng suffered dry taps or limited water for two weeks but supply has now been restored, while other areas like Dagbreek continue to experience interruptions, having to go without water for a week or more

According to DA Cllr, Hans-Jurie Moolman residents are not interested in excuses. “They are only interested in receiving a reliable water supply so that they can meet their most basic needs,” he said.
“Loadshedding is not an excuse for a lack of water, South Africans have experienced load-shedding since 2007, and there has been sufficient time, more than 15 years to be exact, for theMunicipality to plan for contingency measures to ensure the delivery of basic services like water,” he added.
The DA said the Municipality could ensure a reliable water supply if it paid contractors on time, particularly for diesel to run generators and spare parts for repairs. “It is not very complicated,” Moolman said.
The DA will engage the report on the water supply disruptions in Council and will gladly assist the municipality to draft a strategic water management plan.
