It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic passing of a beloved son, brother, business partner and friend to many, Ofentse Junior Magape, also known as Chuku.

Ofentse was born on 7 August 1996 and died on 2 April 2023. He attended Strathvaal Primary School in Stilfontein, representing the school and province in cricket on several occasions. He then pursued his High School career at Hoër Tegniese Skool Potchefstroom, where he was an outstanding athlete and prefect.

He also represented the province in rugby. After high school, he enrolled in sports science at NWU’s Potchefstroom campus. He subsequently changed courses and studied project management and advanced project management, which he completed at the NWU Business School in 2021. His qualification led him to start and run a successful construction company called MagCore Holdings (Mag, short for Magape).

Also known for being a stellar athlete, he developed a football career, playing for a well-known local football club called Real Hearts FC, which currently plays in the ABC second-division league. He also played a pivotal role in establishing Sportistic, a well-known brand based in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp and was also the co owner of an entertainment company called Spiritbanger.

Ofentse will be remembered as a gentle soul who showed unwavering kindness and generosity. He leaves behind his parents, two sisters, brother and his son.
