Promosa elderly group club celebrates its anniversary

Promosa's Gladiators Club for elderly people recently held a get-together to celebrate its seventh anniversary.

Promosa’s Gladiators Club for elderly people recently held a get-together to celebrate its seventh anniversary. Thalitha Harwood, who founded the club, came up with the idea when social development invited church members to visit a similar initiative pin Ikageng.

“It was at this event that we heard that the government wanted to establish clubs for the elderly,” she explains. “They realised that senior people often had nothing to do; they want-ed to create initiatives to keep them active.”

Thalitha thought this was a great initiative and took it upon herself to establish it in her area. At the moment, Gladiators consists of 43 members, and Thalitha says anyone is more than welcome to join the club. If you are interested in this initiative, contact her at 082 480 49076.

“Since Covid, we have been going strong, and look forward to adding new members.” Thalitha highly recommends that people join the club. “Besides the fun activities and trips we get to take, we also support each other,” she said. “To qualify for club membership, members must be over 60 but do not necessarily have to reside in Promosa.”
