Potch water treatment plant receives 94% score

The Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant also obtained 99.22% and 98.30% for Microbiological and Chemical compliance respectively.

The J.B. Marks Municipality has revealed that the Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant has scored 94% in a Blue Drop Watch report that the Minster of Water and Sanitation, Senzo Mchunu released on Tuesday, 6 June. The comprehensive Blue Drop Audit is expected to be released in July 2023.

“The watch report was based on a Technical Site Assessment (TSA) of Drinking Water Treatment Plants that were audited during the 2021/2022 Blue Drop Audit period. The TSA focused on current conditions of drinking water infrastructure and treatment processes from a technical perspective,” stated J.B. Marks municipality spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite.

The Blue Drop Watch/Technical Site Assessment focused on the current condition of the drinking water infrastructure and treatment processes from technical perspective.

During the Blue Drop Watch Report, assessors opted to assess the Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant.  According to the report, the percentage score of the Plant is regarded as “Good”. The watch report also addressed the compliance of the drinking water from the Assessed Plants and the Potchefstroom Water Treatment Plant obtained 99.22% and 98.30% for Microbiological and Chemical compliance respectively.
