Man arrested after pointing gun at Ikageng police members

A 33-year-old man entered the Community Service Centre (CSC) at Ikageng police station and threatened police members on duty with a firearm and a knife. 

In the early hours of Saturday morning (5 August) at 03:00, a 33-year-old man entered the Community Service Centre (CSC) at Ikageng police station and threatened police members on duty with a firearm and a knife.

The man pointed a gun at the police members, but they immediately reacted, overpowered and disarmed the suspect.

According to NW police spokesperson, Col. Adele Myburgh, the suspect was immediately arrested and the weapons in his possession seized.

The man appeared before the Potchefstroom Magistrates Court on Monday, 7 August for pointing of a firearm and possession of an unlawful firearm and ammunition.
