A 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Friday, 4 August during an intelligence driven operation in Rockville, Promosa.

A 26-year-old man was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm on Friday, 4 August during an intelligence driven operation in Rockville, Promosa.

According to NW police spokesperson, Col. Adele Myburgh, this operation was part of an effort to extensively deal with the proliferation of illegal firearms in the province.

“Information was followed-up, leading the team to an identified home in Rockville, Promosa, where a 26-year-old man was arrested after a firearm was discovered in his possession,” she stated.

The man was scheduled to appear before the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 August.
