Local businessman shot dead in front of his house

The family is still in shock after Maponyane’s untimely passing and issued a R 200 000 reward for information regarding his death.

The family of well-known businessman, mr. Johannes Maponyane (74) is heartbroken after he was found dead inside his yard in Mohadin last week.

NW police spokesperson, Capt. Sam Tselanyane confirmed that police have opened a case of murder and that an investigation is underway.

Maponyane was allegedly found on the grass on his back in front of his house with suspected gunshot wounds on his body. Paramedics declared him dead on the scene at around 19:30 on Tuesday, 26 September.

Maponyane’s motor vehicle was also still idling in front of the main gate. Neighbours were alerted when they heard gun shots, but could not determine the identity of who shot Maponyane.
