Taxi fell into excavation cavity after evading an oncoming vehicle

Traffic Officers confirmed that warning signs were visible and that the matter is still being investigated.

The taxi driver that drove into an open cavity on the side of the road on Monday, 20 April in Ikageng was due to him evading an oncoming vehicle that had allegedly encroached in his lane.

JB Marks Municipality Spokesperson, Jeanette Tshite, stated that a report from the Assistant Chief of Traffic mentions that the driver took evasive action in attempt to avoid a collision in Lekhele Street.

“At the time of the incident, the driver was the sole occupant of the taxi. Fortunately, he did not sustain any injuries,” she added.

Traffic Officers on the scene have confirmed that the necessary warning signs were in place on the area. The matter remains under investigation for further details.
