Staff and students from North-West University (NWU) joined hands to honour the legacy of former President Nelson Mandela by taking part in a clean-up campaign at Cachet Park.

The initiative was led by the university’s Transformation and Diversity with Current Affairs Office, with support from the Transformation and Diversity House Committee, Student Academic Chapter members and the S.H.E. Department.

Leandro de Beer, manager of the Cachet Park Improvement District (CID), thanked everyone involved for their contribution.

“We sincerely appreciate the Transformation and Diversity with Current Affairs Office, the Transformation and Diversity House Committee, the Student Academic Chapter members and the S.H.E. Department for their invaluable assistance. Their efforts ensured that we could honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy through meaningful service and a positive contribution to the community,” said De Beer.

Participants spent the day cleaning Cachet Park, helping to create a cleaner and more welcoming public space while embracing the spirit of Mandela Day through community service.
