Family appeals for help after mountain bike stolen in Embert Street

Onthathile Tshabalala had locked his bike outside the Labour Department at around 08:00. When he returned the bike was gone.

A young man’s orange-and-black Specialized mountain bike was stolen outside the Department of Labour offices in Embert Street on Monday, October 26.

Onthathile Tshabalala had locked his bike outside the Deaprtment of Labour at around 08:00 before conducting business inside the building. His previous workplace had closed down, and he is currently retrenched.

The theft has added to his stressful situation, as the bicycle was his main mode of transport. Tshabalala has reported the theft to the police, and a case has been opened.

His mother, Molly, has also posted about the incident on social media in the hope that someone may have seen her son’s bike.

“We are not offering a reward or trying to draw attention to its value. We simply want my son’s mountain bike returned. People work hard for what they own, and taking something that belongs to someone else is wrong,” said Molly.

“If anyone has seen the bicycle or has information that could help us recover it, we kindly ask them to contact us or report the information to the police.”

Anyone with information can contact Molly on 081 020 3683.
